Waiting in line for our turn inside the artwork.
This exhibit is described as, "The work made for the exhibition at the Nasher Sculpture Center, Kink,
continues Neto’s recent explorations of elevated environments and
crochet, but for the first time the artist has added the complex new
element of a freestanding, interwoven framework of metal structural
supports. Passageways of crocheted rope transport visitors up into the
space above the gallery floor, changing their perspective and relation
to gravity, and nestling them in an aerie of polypropylene balls and
crocheted rope.
The booties were cute, but the best part was the area for the kids to climb/jump while we waited. Since they only allow 5 people in the artwork at a time, it didn't go as fast as we would have preferred.
Our turn is next!
Inside climbing through the piece
Inside you climbed up and down and there were a couple of different paths you could take.
The balls you walk on kept everyone at least slightly off balance and only added to the experience.
We couldn't get the entire piece in one photo.
If you notice the colors on the inside felt nothing like the colors on the outside. This was an incredibly popular exhibit. If you ever get a chance to see other work done by Ernesto Neto, I highly suggest it. I love when art uses so many of your senses and allows you to become part of it.
