At home in Poland

When we visit Poland we always stay with family in every city. Here are just some of the homes we have been made to feel welcome in.

Country home belonging to Uncle A's Godmother

Greeting L and getting a ride on his legs (this was easier when they were smaller)

Blowing bubbles on a balcony

Family meal

Sweet Daughter hanging out with one of her cousins

Sitting in the window seat on the farm to get a better view of the roosters that woke her up

Fishing

While in Poland we took the kids on their first fishing trip. They both caught a fish and found other benefits to fishing.

Wonderful Husband showing them how to fish

Closely supervised fishing (these weren't cheap kids poles)

He caught a fish! (We threw it back to let it grow a bit more.)

Sweet Daughter practice the art of relaxing with her uncle. It didn't last long.

They are earning more trust.

She also caught a fish! (It was also thrown back.)

We were on a causeway and while we fished on one side while this was happening on the other.
They are loading coal from rail cars onto giant shipping boats.

Some of us found this much more interesting than sitting still and quite fishing.

Poland Campground and Hiking

A family friend owns a campground so we went to visit for the day. We hiked to a tower (now private, but our friend talked our way in), a dam (not open to visitors, but we talked our way in), and through some fairly difficult trails.

Holding Sweet Daughter up to see just how far off the ground we are (those are all fully grown trees)

From the top of the tower there were amazing views

From the bottom of the tower looking up - that's me looking over the top

Ready to climb all the way up - I ended up going up and down about 5 times because the kids kept wanting to go back one at a time. I was a bit sore the next day.

The stairs looked like this all the way up - only not as well lit when you weren't by the door.

Hiking through the trees - this path had a steep drop on one side and prickly things on the other. It was a bit nerve wrecking at times watching the kids, but we all did it and loved it.

The dam - The walking path above is open to the public, but the building is not.

Inside the dam building learning how it all works.

This tunnel had to be made at two different times after the original tunnel was blown up in a war.

The kids are with the camp's guard dog. You can see the cute cabins in the background.

Family and friends

Guard Dog... um... apparently our kids aren't scary.

Wordless Wednesday

A family tradition!
Every time we visit Poland we put one of these on the nose of a child and take a photo. It started as something silly and is just getting stranger as time goes on. :)
