"Gingerbread" Trees

We love decorating gingerbread houses, trains, etc. Each year we have done something slightly different. This year a friend shared her great idea. She has a large family and it's just not practical to use a kit when you have 8 people decorating. She buys waffle cones and lets them decorate them like trees. This was a perfect idea!

I mixed green food coloring into white icing. The kid started by putting the green icing on their tree.

He found this entire process hilarious. 

Then we used white icing in baggies to put lights or garland on the tree.

She was very serious about adding the decorations.

Yes, she used all of the peppermint candies. She didn't want them to go to waste and the thought of eating them never occurred to her.

He was entertaining the entire time. :)
